Volleyball Recap: St. Mark's Falls Short Against Ranked Newark Charter School

St. Mark faced Newark Charter School in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Spartans fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 3-2. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

St. Mark's took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-21, 22-25, 25-22, 15-6.

St. Mark's loss ended a three-match streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3. As for Newark Charter School, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-1.

St. Mark's has already played their next contest, a 3-2 win against Caravel Academy on the 14th. As for Newark Charter School, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Middletown on the 13th.
