Pinnacle and Green River are an even 5-5 against one another since August of 2020, but likely not for long. The Panthers are headed away from home for the first time to square off against the Pirates at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Pinnacle is leaving town to face Green River after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. The Panthers came up short against Altamont on Wednesday, falling 16-0. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Longhorns: they've now lost eight in a row.

Pinnacle saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joey Howell, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Altamont hit Green River with a four-run fifth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Pirates lost 8-2 to the Longhorns.

Cristian Mendoza was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriel Quintana, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Pinnacle suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Green River when the teams last played back in September of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
