Soccer Game Preview: Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology vs. James Madison

The Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology Colonials are taking a road trip to challenge the James Madison Warhawks at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.

Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to nine goals back in April, they were much more limited against Hayfield last Tuesday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hawks.

Meanwhile, James Madison had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2 goals) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 3-0 shutout. Given James Madison's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Westfield are ranked 185th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

James Madison pushed their record up to 8-1-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those four contests. As for Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology might still be hurting after the 4-0 defeat they got from James Madison in their previous matchup back in June of 2024. Can the Colonials avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
