Taft had a senior duo take command as JJ Acosta threw for 466 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 12.9 yards per attempt and Enrique Rodriguez picked up 296 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Acosta has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last five times he's played.
Meanwhile, Comfort put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past South San Antonio West 51-0 at home. The victory was just what Comfort needed coming off of a 43-7 defeat in their prior match.
Taft pushed their record up to 6-4 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.7 points per game. As for Comfort, their victory bumped their record up to 5-5.
Taft took their win against Comfort in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 by a conclusive 38-14. Will Taft repeat their success, or does Comfort have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
