Volleyball Recap: Riverside-Brookfield Comes Up Short

Riverside-Brookfield lost against Sandburg back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Bulldogs took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Riverside-Brookfield was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-22.

Jack Schejbal paced Riverside-Brookfield's offense, picking up five kills. Schejbal got some help from Liam Keohane and his six assists. Finally, Nickolas Rivera kept Riverside-Brookfield's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Riverside-Brookfield's defeat dropped their record down to 21-13. As for Sandburg, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 22 of their last 24 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-4 record this season.

Riverside-Brookfield will take on Bogan at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. As for Sandburg, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 win against Lincoln-Way Central on the 21st.
