Preview: Anacostia Indians vs. Ballou Knights
Anacostia is 9-1 against Ballou since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Anacostia Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Ballou Knights at 5:30 p.m. Ballou took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Anacostia, who comes in off a win.
Last Monday, Anacostia strolled past Banneker with points to spare, taking the game 54-40. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Anacostia.
Anacostia got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Antaneke Cunningham out in front who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. The match was Cunningham's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nayjah Duvall, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Ballou's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a rough 69-32 loss at the hands of Douglass.
Anacostia pushed their record up to 3-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.5 points per game. As for Ballou, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
Everything went Anacostia's way against Ballou in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 as Anacostia made off with a 49-23 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Anacostia since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
