Baseball Recap: Johnstown-Monroe Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Johnstown-Monroe ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Fredericktown Freddies 6-5. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Johnnies also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Braeden Archibald made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Johnstown-Monroe got a big performance out of Carter Holbrook, who went 3-for-5 with one run and one RBI. Those three hits gave Holbrook a new career-high. Jackson Ryan was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Johnstown-Monroe always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive contests.

Johnstown-Monroe now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Fredericktown, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Johnstown-Monroe will venture away from home to challenge Circleville at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Fredericktown does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
