Soccer Game Preview: Jenkins vs. Claxton

The Jenkins Warriors are taking a road trip to square off against the Claxton Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Jenkins' offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Jenkins fell victim to Bryan County and their airtight defense on Thursday. They lost 3-0 to the Redskins.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last contest, Claxton made sure to put some goals up on the board against Dublin on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Fighting Irish a 6-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for Claxton, who have now won five games by three goals or more so far this season.

Melissa Ajtun and Izabelle Gonzales scored all six of Claxton's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 35 goals.

Claxton has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 20 goals over those five contests. As for Jenkins, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14.

Jenkins suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Claxton when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
