Baseball Recap: Davis Comes Up Short

If Davis was feeling good fresh off their 15-5 takedown of Layton on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Darts took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lancers on Wednesday. The Darts were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lancers earlier this season, when they won 15-5.

Sam Sevy was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Davis saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Owen Talbot, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

Davis' defeat dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Layton, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-10 record this season.

While Davis had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
