Basketball Recap: Lehigh Falls Short of Sarasota in the Playoffs

Lehigh and Sarasota squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Lehigh had to settle for second. They took a 58-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sarasota Sailors. While losing is never fun, the Lightning can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while the Sailors are ranked 46th).

Lehigh lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Justin Gollop, who posted 14 points in addition to six boards and six steals. Another player making a difference was Kionus Walters, who scored 18 points.

Even though they lost, Lehigh was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Lehigh's loss dropped their record down to 23-4. As for Sarasota, the win (which was their 15th in a row) raised their record to 25-2.

Lehigh wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 72-63 defeat against Plant City on the 12th. As for Sarasota, they have also already played their next contest, an 81-58 victory against Poinciana on the 12th.
