Basketball Game Preview: Huntingtown Hurricanes vs. Lackey Chargers

The Huntingtown Hurricanes will venture away from home to square off against the Lackey Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Friday, Huntingtown earned a 71-61 victory over Northern. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hurricanes.

Meanwhile, Lackey entered their tilt with Patuxent on Friday with 12 consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with 13. They claimed a resounding 80-30 win over the Panthers. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 46-13.

Lackey's win came from a few key players Huntingtown will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Isaiah Mansaray, who went 8-for-12 from beyond the arc en route to 30 points. Those 30 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Malik Gordon, who went 6-for-7 to rack up 12 points in addition to six steals and five assists.

Lackey pushed their record up to 19-2 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points over those games. As for Huntingtown, their win bumped their record up to 12-7.

Huntingtown came up short against Lackey when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 53-49. Can Huntingtown avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
