League recap: Kunetka overpowering for Burton in past week

1A Region IV District 27 league recap: 3/27/13

Garrett Kunetka was the top pitcher in 1A Region IV District 27 this week, leading Burton. Over the past week, he had two wins and 19 Ks.

The Panthers had a successful week, as they won two total games to lead the league. Burton beat Mumford 5-1.

The Panthers boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks.

Burton stole 22 bases this week, adding to its league-leading 102 steals on the year.

Kunetka was the top pitcher this week as he paced the league with two wins and 19 Ks.

The league boasted five .400 hitters over the past week. Leading the pack was Tanner Demuth, who hit .714 by going 5-for-7.



Brett Rohde threw a shutout as he led Fayetteville to victory over Somerville, 13-0, on Tuesday. He pitched five scoreless innings and struck out 13, while giving up zero hits.

Cody Nienstedt drove in four runners as the Panthers defeated Snook 15-14 on Tuesday. He went 2-for-5.
