Basketball Game Preview: Kankakee Valley Kougars vs. Munster Mustangs

The Kankakee Valley Kougars will take on the Munster Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Kankakee Valley took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Illiana Christian by a score of 42-32. The win was some much needed relief for the Kougars as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Munster hadn't done well against Crown Point recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Munster walked away with a 58-48 victory over Crown Point.

Kankakee Valley better keep an eye on Cecilia Mason. She was instrumental in Munster's win, going 6 of 13 en route to 15 points in addition to seven assists and six steals. Mason is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Igboamaka Odeluga was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 18 rebounds.

Munster's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-8. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.4 points per game. As for Kankakee Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 6-11.
