Baseball Game Preview: Andover Panthers vs. Friendship Golden Eagles

The Andover Panthers will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Friendship Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Andover is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 19 runs on April 4th, they were much more limited against Fillmore two weeks ago. They came up short against the Eagles, falling 7-1.

Meanwhile, Friendship was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 22nd straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 21-18 to Hinsdale Central. On the bright side, the 18- run performance marked the Golden Eagles' highest-scoring game to date.

Andover's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Friendship, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Andover took their win against Friendship when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 20-6 score. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Golden Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
