Softball Recap: Dillon Beats Marlboro County for Their Third Straight Win

Dillon extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 9-13-1 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Marlboro County Bulldogs. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by just one run.

As for Marlboro County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season. Their loss continues a trend for the squad, making it ten in a row.

For Marlboro County's part, Abby Quick put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. What's more, Quick gave up only zero hits, the fewest she's had since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.

In other batting news, Ruthie Grooms made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with nine stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those stolen bases marked the first that she has snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Amir Bridges, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
