Baseball Recap: Babcock Wins Going Away Against Mason Classical Academy

On Thursday, the Babcock Trailblazers made easy work of the Mason Classical Academy Paladins and carried off a 16-1 victory. The Trailblazers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by seven runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Anthony Brand, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Babcock's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-4 when he doesn't). Ethan Martinez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1.

Babcock always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Babcock and bumps their season record up to 4-4. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 11 hits in those games compared to only 4.83 in the others. As for Mason Classical Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Babcock didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 16-1 victory against The Classical Academy of Sarasota on the 7th. Mason Classical Academy will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on The Village School of Naples at 3:00 p.m. on March 18th.
