The Orange Panthers will challenge the J.F. Webb Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Orange's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Durham School of the Arts with a sharp 15-0 victory.
Malynne Roemmich was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Roemmich was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, Hayleigh Hammond was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and six RBI. What's more, she posted four runs, the most she's had since back in March. Katie Carden was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Orange was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for J.F. Webb, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Everything went their way against South Garner on Monday as they made off with a 22-3 win. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by ten runs or more this season.
Britany Mendoza was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and three doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Keigley, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
J.F. Webb pushed their record up to 12-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for Orange, their victory bumped their record up to 8-10.
Orange skirted past J.F. Webb 12-11 in their previous matchup back in March. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
