Softball Recap: Granby Wins Going Away Against Manor

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Great Bridge, Granby was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Manor Mustangs. That looming 17-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Comets yet this season.

Anwynn Williams was a standout: she scored four runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aerabella H, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Granby was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Manor only posted a batting average of .211.

Granby has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Manor, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4-1.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Granby will face off against rival Norcom at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Manor is set to square off against their familiar foe Maury at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
