Basketball Recap: The Pinnacle Takes a Loss

The Pinnacle lost to Alameda back in January of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Timberwolves received a blow as they fell 47-33 to the Pirates.

Despite the loss, The Pinnacle still got an impressive performance from Alexis Kohl, who posted ten points and seven blocks. Another player making a difference was Lylyanna Zaragoza, who had seven points.

Brooke Ortiz continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Alameda, dropping a double-double with 18 points and 16 boards. Ortiz is becoming a predictor of the Pirates' success: when she posts at least eight rebounds the team is 9-4 (and 1-2 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Mayoyri Rios, who scored six points along with eight boards and eight steals.

The Pinnacle's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Alameda, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-6.

The Pinnacle has already played their next contest, a 37-33 loss against Platte Canyon on the 17th. As for Alameda, they will challenge Mitchell at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Pirates will be up against the Marauders' rather soft defense (which has allowed 51.35 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
