Softball Preview: Mark Twain Tigers vs. Community Trojans
Mark Twain is 0-8 against Community since October of 2015 but things could change on Monday. The Mark Twain Tigers will welcome the Community Trojans at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Thursday, Mark Twain made easy work of Wellsville-Middletown and carried off an 18-2 win.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Community). They blew past Madison 22-6 on Thursday. The victory was nothing new for the Trojans as they're now sitting on five straight.
Myla Carroll made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Carroll was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with an RBI.
In other batting news, Aaliyah Welch was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Chloe Johnson, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Community always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Mark Twain has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season. As for Community, they pushed their record up to 15-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.
