Basketball Game Preview: San Marcos Rattlers vs. East Central Hornets

The San Marcos Rattlers are taking a road trip to take on the East Central Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. San Marcos will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

San Marcos is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Clemens: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that San Marcos blew Clemens out of the water with an 80-33 final score. The Rattlers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 26 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, East Central lost 54-28 to Steele on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 320th, while the Knights are ranked 42nd).

San Marcos is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for East Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-15.

Everything went San Marcos' way against East Central when the teams last played on January 3rd, as San Marcos made off with a 62-36 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for San Marcos since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
