            Softball Recap: Walnut Grove Wildcats vs. Denison Yellow Jackets        
        
		
        
        
            There's no place like home for Walnut Grove, who bounced back after a  loss on the road  last Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Denison Yellow Jackets  a   15-0 shutout  on Tuesday. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by eight  runs or more this season.
 Lyndsey Hooker made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   not allowing a single  earned run and  allowed only  one  hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. That's the most  strikeouts  she has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate,  scoring a  run while going 2-for-3.
 In other batting news,  Micayla Wood and  Kailee James did most of the damage at the plate:  Wood  went a perfect 2-for-2 with one  home run, five  RBI,  and two  runs, while  James  went a perfect 3-for-3 with one  home run, three  runs,  and three  RBI. That's the most  RBI  James has posted  over her last 13  games. Another player making a difference was  Penelope Robles, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 2-for-3.
 Walnut Grove  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .633. That's the best  OBP they've posted all season.

Walnut Grove's victory was  their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which  pushed their record up to 9-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Denison, they have  been struggling recently as they've  lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record  this season.
 A feisty cat fight will be fought as Walnut Grove Wildcats  face off against  Greenville Lions at 6:45  p.m.  on Friday. Walnut Grove is facing Greenville at the right time seeing as Greenville is stuck on  a  four-game losing streak. As for Denison, they will take on Lovejoy at 6:00  p.m.  on Friday.
