Recap: Central Mountain Wildcats vs. Shikellamy Braves
The Central Mountain Wildcats were the 72-45 winner over the Shikellamy Braves when they last played one another on January 3rd, but their luck changed this time around. Central Mountain took a 52-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Shikellamy. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Central Mountain came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 173rd, while Shikellamy is ranked 430th).
Despite the loss, Central Mountain still got an impressive performance from Caleb Mahoney, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mahoney has scored all season. Hunter Hoy was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Central Mountain has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-5 record this season. As for Shikellamy, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.
Central Mountain will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Milton at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. As for Shikellamy, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Shamokin Area at 7:30 p.m. Shamokin Area will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
