Softball Game Preview: Hunt Warriors vs. Southern Wayne Saints

Hunt is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Southern Wayne a four-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Hunt Warriors will be playing at home against the Southern Wayne Saints at 7:00 p.m. Hunt is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

Having struggled with six losses in a row, Hunt turned things around against Smithfield-Selma on Thursday. They blew past the Spartans 19-1. The high-scoring effort was just what the Warriors needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Makayla Coley looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Hunt got a massive performance out of Kennedie Carnahan, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. What's more, Carnahan posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was Melaina Dixon, who scored four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Hunt always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Southern Wayne lost 15-9 to Beddingfield on Monday.

Hunt's victory bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Southern Wayne, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-16.

Hunt took their win against Southern Wayne in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 24-3 score. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Saints turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
