Fairbanks is 0-8 against River Valley since April of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Panthers will host the Vikings at 5:15 p.m. Fairbanks is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.1 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Fairbanks beat West Jefferson 5-1.
Macy Kise spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Anna Dulle, who went 2-for-4 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Jenna Dee was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
River Valley came out on top against Highland on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Vikings skirted past the Fighting Scots 6-4. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Fighting Scots recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Samantha Woods was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Addi Braun, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Fairbanks pushed their record up to 16-2 with the victory, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for River Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 14-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Fairbanks has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like River Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Fairbanks couldn't quite get it done against River Valley in their previous meeting back in April of 2023 as they fell 6-2. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
