Baseball Game Preview: Triad Knights vs. Edwardsville Tigers

Triad is 1-9 against Edwardsville since May of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Knights will host the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. Triad will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

On Thursday, Triad earned a 6-3 win over Freeburg.

Meanwhile, Edwardsville faced O'Fallon in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Tigers never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 13 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Edwardsville is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 16 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Triad, their victory bumped their record up to 28-5.
