Laney won the last time they faced North Brunswick and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Laney Buccaneers walked away with a 51-41 victory over the North Brunswick Scorpions. Given the Buccaneers' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while the Scorpions are ranked 393rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Laney's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from India Williams, who posted 17 points and six rebounds. Aniece Lewis was another key player, going 5-for-12 to rack up 13 points and five assists.

Laney smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

North Brunswick lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Mariah Bell, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 11 boards. That's the most rebounds she has posted since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Adrianna Gomez, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine boards.

Laney's record is now 12-9. As for North Brunswick, they dropped their record down to 3-16 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Laney wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 45-35 loss against Topsail on the 13th. North Brunswick has also already played their next contest (against Ashley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
