Basketball Recap: Serenity Cressor's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pine Ridge over Hagerty

Pine Ridge lost against Hagerty back in January of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Pine Ridge Panthers fell 56-48 to the Hagerty Huskies.

Pine Ridge lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Serenity Cressor, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 18 rebounds. The game was Cressor's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Brookelin Murray, who went 5 of 8 en route to 11 points along with seven boards and five steals.

Even though they lost, Pine Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Pine Ridge's defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Hagerty, their record now sits at 4-6.

Pine Ridge and Hagerty could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Pine Ridge (ranked 456th) will meet Calvary Christian Academy (ranked 180th) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Hagerty (ranked 421st) will meet Gateway (ranked 86th) at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
