Softball Recap: Fairfield Takes a Loss

Fairfield came into this matchup off a tough ten-run defeat on Wednesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Hamilton County Foxes by a score of 13-11 on Thursday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Wednesday (ten), the Mules still had to take the loss.

Harlee Scott was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. That stolen base was her first of the season. Dalanie Ellis was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one double.

Fairfield has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Hamilton County, they pushed their record up to 8-8 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Fairfield has already played their next match, an 8-4 win against Flora on the 22nd. As for Hamilton County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 16-4 victory against Zeigler-Royalton on the 18th.
