Baseball Game Preview: Union Pines Vikings vs. Pinecrest Patriots

For the second straight game, Union Pines will face off against Pinecrest. The Vikings will welcome the Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

On Wednesday, Union Pines came up short against Pinecrest and fell 4-1. That's two games in a row now that the Vikings have lost by exactly three runs.

For Pinecrest's part, Bohdi Robertson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. Robertson has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mitch Baek was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Pinecrest is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Union Pines, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-12.
