Softball Game Preview: Madeira MUSTANGS/AMAZONS vs. Reading Blue Devils

Madeira hasn't had much luck against Reading recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The MUSTANGS/AMAZONS will look to defend their home field against the Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m.

Madeira's last matchup with Indian Hill could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Thursday. The MUSTANGS/AMAZONS came up short against the Braves, falling 9-2. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 24, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Meanwhile, Reading waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Rebels 12-4. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

Kotah Brisbin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Reading let Lillie Riedmiller and Brooke Androne run wild. Riedmiller went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Androne went 1-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Androne is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Hailey Mowell was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Madeira's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Reading, their win bumped their record up to 12-4.
