Baseball Recap: North Canyon Comes Up Short

Youngker hit North Canyon with a six-run first inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rattlers fell just short of the Roughriders by a score of 7-6.

Jose Chavez put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over 6.1 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because North Canyon is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-11 otherwise. Chavez was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple and two RBI.

In other batting news, Jacob Kirby made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

North Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Youngker, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 15-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Roughriders beat North Canyon by a score of 8-1 on Thursday.
