Softball Recap: Southington Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Southington ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past the Rocky Hill Terriers 4-3. The Blue Knights haven't had any issues with the Terriers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Angie Insogna spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Olivia Gombotz, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Nerea Maule was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Southington's record is now 9-2. As for Rocky Hill, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southington will venture away from home to take on Middletown at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Blue Dragons will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Rocky Hill, they will head out on the road to challenge Avon at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Terriers will need to watch out since the Falcons have now posted at least ten runs in their last eight contests.
