Softball Game Preview: Miami Trace Panthers vs. Unioto Shermans

The Miami Trace Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the Unioto Shermans at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Miami Trace is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.

Miami Trace came into this matchup off a tough seven-run defeat on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Hillsboro by a score of 9-7 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Panthers have suffered since April 24, 2024.

Gracie Cordell made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Unioto didn't have quite enough to beat Westfall on Wednesday and fell 10-9.

Mackenzie Welch was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Tuttle, who scored a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Miami Trace's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Unioto, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Miami Trace might still be hurting after the 11-5 defeat they got from Unioto when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
