Basketball Game Preview: Johnston City Indians vs. Trico Pioneers

The Johnston City Indians will challenge the Trico Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Trico took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Johnston City, who comes in off a win.

Johnston City is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 68-33 victory over Webber. The Indians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 22 points or more this season.

Trico has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They had to suffer through a 67-35 loss at the hands of Vienna. While losing is never fun, the Pioneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 301st, while the Eagles are ranked 55th).

Johnston City has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 27.7 points. As for Trico, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-8.

Johnston City strolled past Trico in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a score of 48-30. Will Johnston City repeat their success, or does Trico have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
