Recap: Switzerland County Pacers vs. Trinity Lutheran Cougars

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against North Decatur, the Switzerland County Pacers were happy to have found some success on Friday. They escaped with a win against Trinity Lutheran by the margin of a single free throw, 55-54. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Switzerland County also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.

Switzerland County was led to victory by Isaac Williams and Cam Craig. Williams scored 12 points along with five rebounds, while Craig scored 22 points along with eight rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Craig has scored at least 25% of Switzerland County's points. Another player making a difference was Mason Peelman, who scored eight points.

Trinity Lutheran's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hudson Lang, who scored 24 points. Lang continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Reed Mellencamp was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.

Switzerland County's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Trinity Lutheran, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Switzerland County will finish 2023 at home by hosting Christel House at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Christel House focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Friday. Trinity Lutheran won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Tri-Township at 12:00 p.m. on December 30, 2023. Tri-Township is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
