Baseball Recap: Petaluma Takes Down Castro Valley in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Petaluma had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 5-1 win over Castro Valley on Tuesday.

The team relied heavily on Ryan Landry, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Dalton Deadman, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Petaluma kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Castro Valley only managed three hits.

Petaluma has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Castro Valley, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-6.

Looking ahead, Petaluma will take on De La Salle at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Trojans 2.5, the Spartans 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Castro Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
