La Serna dropped their record down to 15-11 on Monday, which also ended the team's nine-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Santa Fe Chiefs by a score of 2-0. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Lancers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Grady Long spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

As for Santa Fe, their win bumped their record up to 11-16. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since March 21st.

On Santa Fe's side, the result came thanks to James Rubio's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on James Oregon, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Julian Valdez, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

While La Serna had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
