Football Game Preview: Burgettstown Blue Devils vs. Neshannock Lancers

The Burgettstown Blue Devils will head out to challenge the Neshannock Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Burgettstown has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with four straight losses, while Neshannock will come in with four straight wins.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 42-9, which was the final score in Burgettstown's tilt against Fort Cherry on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 417th, while the Rangers are ranked 141st).

Despite the defeat, Burgettstown saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brady Rightweiser rushed for 66 yards and one TD.

Meanwhile, Neshannock humbled Shenango with a 48-7 victory. Considering the Lancers have won three contests by more than 34 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Burgettstown's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Neshannock, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

Burgettstown was taken down by Neshannock 35-0 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Lancers' Jino Mozzocio, who threw for 172 yards and three touchdowns while completing 82.4% of his passes, and also rushed for 47 yards and one score. Now that the Blue Devils know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
