Baseball Game Preview: Mansfield Senior Tygers vs. Mansfield Christian Flames

Mansfield Senior has gone 8-2 against Mansfield Christian recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Tygers will be playing at home against the Flames at 10:00 a.m. Mansfield Senior will be strutting in after a victory while Mansfield Christian will be coming in after a loss.

Mansfield Senior's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They came out on top against Loudonville by a score of 4-0. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Tygers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Guy Trader made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Trader was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. He has become a key player for Mansfield Senior: the team is 6-3 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-13 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on MJ Bradley, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Mansfield Christian's offense. They lost 10-0 to Western Reserve on Thursday. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Flames' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Mansfield Christian has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's still a better percentage than their 4-14 record this season. As for Mansfield Senior, their victory bumped their record up to 10-16.

Mansfield Senior took their win against Mansfield Christian in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. Will the Tygers repeat their success, or do the Flames have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
