Baseball Game Preview: Otter Valley Otters vs. Green Mountain Chieftains

Otter Valley has gone a perfect 3-0 against Green Mountain recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Otters are taking a road trip to take on the Chieftains at 4:30 p.m. Otter Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.

Otter Valley is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Vermont's top teams: Leland & Gray, who was ranked 15th at the time (Otter Valley was ranked 13th). The Otters fell 4-1 to the Rebels on Monday. The Otters just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Otter Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucas Whitney, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI. That RBI marked the first that Whitney has brought in this season.

Meanwhile, Green Mountain also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to White River Valley by a score of 6-3. The Chieftains have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Otter Valley's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Green Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Otter Valley beat Green Mountain 5-1 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Otters since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
