Basketball Recap: Champaign Central Takes a Loss

Champaign Central was the 75-62 winner over Centennial when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Champaign Central Maroons fell 59-47 to the Centennial Chargers on Tuesday.

When it comes to explaining why Champaign Central lost, don't look at Chris Bush. Despite the final result, he went 9-for-21 on his way to 21 points and six rebounds. Bush's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Trey Cole, who posted nine points.

Even though they lost, Champaign Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matches.

Champaign Central's defeat dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Centennial, their record now sits at 12-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Champaign Central will challenge Danville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Champaign Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.8 points per game this season. As for Centennial, they will square off against Peoria Notre Dame at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Peoria Notre Dame has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
