Football Recap: Huge Rushing Attack Leads St. Edmund over Covenant Christian Academy

St. Edmund had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top against the Covenant Christian Academy Lions by a score of 44-36 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Fighting Blue Jays.

Wyatt Dubois continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 231 yards and five scores on only 15 carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 52 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Nathan Driggs helped out on the ground, rushing for 131 yards and a rushing touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: St. Edmund was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 408 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

St. Edmund's record now sits at 10-2. As for Covenant Christian Academy, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-3.

Looking ahead, St. Edmund will challenge Westminster Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Fighting Blue Jays will need to watch out since the Crusaders have now posted at least 31 points in their last five games. Covenant Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
