Mesa comes up short despite Daniel Arnett's dominant performance

The Mesa Jackrabbits are ranked highly in their home state, and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of the Seven Lakes Spartans. Mesa's2023 ended with a 62-47 loss against Seven Lakes. Mesa's defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

When it comes to explaining why Mesa lost, one person who can't be blamed is Daniel Arnett. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points. That's the first time this season that Arnett scored 15 or more points. Jarren Galarza was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five assists.

Mesa's defeat dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Seven Lakes, the win (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 21-3.

Mesa will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Pinnacle at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. Pinnacle is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Seven Lakes, they will be playing at home against Katy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Katy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while Seven Lakes is ranked 19th).
