Softball Recap: Whitehall-Yearling Takes a Loss

Whitehall-Yearling was the 18-5 winner over Westland when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Rams fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 14-13 on Tuesday. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Aubree Waites was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and ten unearned) runs off six hits. Waites was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Emma Moore led a balanced group of hitters, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Vanessa Brown also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Whitehall-Yearling's record is now 6-8. As for Westland, the win snapped their losing streak at 13 games and leaves them with a 4-14 record.

Whitehall-Yearling has already played their next contest, a 26-15 loss against Worthington Christian on the 24th. As for Westland, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 10-0 defeat against Dublin Scioto on the 23rd.
