Baseball Recap: Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington Takes a Loss

Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington had lost 17 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 1-9 to make it 18. They came up short against the Manchester Greyhounds, falling 13-3. The Blue Jays were not able to make up for their loss to the Greyhounds from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for Manchester, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Considering they have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For Manchester's part, Clayton Colvin was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Luke Applegate, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Coming up, Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington will square off against Fayetteville-Perry at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Manchester, they are taking a road trip to take on Fairfield at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Greyhounds' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 10.4 runs per game this season.
