Football Recap: Tre Cameron and George Tafkov Lead the Defense for Hopewell Win

Hopewell lost to New Castle back in August of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Vikings put the hurt on the Hurricanes with a sharp 31-6 win. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Vikings just coasted through the last quarter.

Hopewell found their leader in sophomore James Armstrong, who rushed for 109 yards and four touchdowns, and also threw for 229 yards while completing 84.2% of his passes. 96 of Armstrong's passing yards were hauled in by Logan Triscila.

Hopewell didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Tre Cameron and George Tafkov. Another thorn in New Castle's side was Nicolas Thomas, who made 13 total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Hopewell has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their offensive performance: the team's won by an average of 40.5 points thus far. As for New Castle, they dropped their record down to 1-1 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hopewell will take on Ambridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for New Castle, they will square off against Highlands at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
