Volleyball Recap: Bishop McDevitt Comes Up Short

If Bishop McDevitt was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Central Dauphin East on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Crusaders lost 3-0 to the Middletown Blue Raiders on Monday. The Crusaders haven't had much luck with the Blue Raiders recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Bishop McDevitt took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-17, 25-21.

Jillian Kelemen paced Bishop McDevitt's offense, picking up five kills. Kelemen got some help from Clare Callahan and her 11 assists. Finally, Kelemen was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high six blocks.

Bishop McDevitt's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Middletown, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-0.

Coming up, after both having extra time off, Bishop McDevitt and Boiling Springs will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Middletown, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Central Dauphin East on the 7th.
