The home team had won the previous seven meetings between North Murray and Calhoun, and Calhoun kept the tradition alive. The Mountaineers took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Yellow Jackets on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Mountaineers in their meetings with the Yellow Jackets: they've now lost three in a row.

Kaitlyn Malone made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Hailey Coram, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

North Murray's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Calhoun, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

North Murray has already played their next game, an 8-7 loss against Armuchee on the 9th. As for Calhoun, they will challenge Heritage at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup will give the Yellow Jackets their first taste of in-conference action this season.
