Basketball Game Preview: Lawrence Academy Warriors vs. Northeast Academy Eagles

Lawrence Academy is a perfect 10-0 against Northeast Academy since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Warriors will challenge the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lawrence Academy has four straight victories, Northeast Academy has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Saturday, Lawrence Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Greenbrier Christian Academy, taking the game 59-51.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lawrence Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carter Hoggard, who posted 18 points and seven boards. The game was Hoggard's fourth in a row with at least 17 points. Ben Woodard was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and 13 rebounds.

Lawrence Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Northeast Academy took a blow against Albemarle School on Wednesday, falling 72-14. The matchup marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Lawrence Academy's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Northeast Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Lawrence Academy took their win against Northeast Academy in their previous matchup back in January by a conclusive 67-45 score. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
